There is a particular quality to a hotel that takes its name not from a place or a person but from an idea. The Junto draws its identity from Benjamin Franklin's original club of mutual improvement, a gathering of curious minds in eighteenth-century Philadelphia devoted to conversation, commerce, and civic betterment. That spirit of intellectual fellowship is embedded in the property's architecture, its public spaces, and the way it positions itself within the city's Italian Market neighborhood, one of Philadelphia's oldest and most storied corridors.
The building itself is a modern structure with industrial-inflected design, its interiors layered with warm textures, custom millwork, and a material palette that nods to the neighborhood's mercantile heritage. Guest rooms are thoughtfully composed with clean lines, muted tones, and generous natural light, balancing comfort with a sense of restraint that never feels austere. Suites expand the experience with additional living space, and throughout the accommodations, there is an attention to craft that rewards a second look. The lobby functions as a genuine gathering place rather than a transitional space, its energy calibrated to feel both purposeful and inviting.
Dining at The Junto unfolds across several distinct concepts. Café Junto offers an all-day menu grounded in seasonal cooking with a neighborhood sensibility, drawing from the market culture that surrounds the hotel. The rooftop bar provides a different register entirely, delivering panoramic views of the Philadelphia skyline alongside cocktails and lighter fare that shift with the season. Together, these outlets give guests real reason to eat and drink on property without ever feeling confined. A fitness center rounds out the amenities, and the hotel's meeting and event spaces are designed with the same architectural consideration as the guest-facing areas, making them genuine extensions of the property's character.
The surrounding neighborhood is essential to the experience. The Italian Market, with its open-air stalls, specialty grocers, and generations-old family businesses, lends The Junto a street-level vitality that most urban hotels can only approximate. South Street, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the city's broader cultural institutions are all within easy reach, but the immediate surroundings offer something less curated and more alive. This is a part of Philadelphia that moves at its own pace, shaped by immigration, trade, and community rather than tourism.
What stays with you after a night at The Junto is less about any single detail and more about a coherent point of view. The hotel understands that design, dining, and neighborhood context are not separate categories but parts of a single conversation. It is a place built for people who want to be in Philadelphia rather than insulated from it, and that distinction makes all the difference.

What we love about this stay
There's a particular quality to The Junto that feels like Columbus distilled — that rare Midwestern confidence that doesn't need to announce itself. The lobby hums with a contemporary energy that somehow never crowds out the warmth, and the rooms, with their floor-to-ceiling windows, turn the city into something you watch like a slow film. It's the kind of place where the shared lounge actually works as a gathering point, where strangers end up in real conversation over wine. Grab one of the complimentary bikes and you'll feel the neighborhood unfold naturally — the Ohio Theater, the tree-lined blocks, the museum just a walk away. What stays with you isn't any single flourish but the quiet sense that someone thought carefully about every proportion.

The property was amazing and initially the staff matched. My check out experience was horrible and somewhat suspect. The checkout person needed to give me a refund to switch cards and it took 25 minutes. I felt very uncomfortable with how my credit card information was handled. I have alerted my bank.

Best place in Columbus! We had an amazing experience at this hotel. From the moment we arrived, everyone was kind and went above and beyond. Our room was spacious, clean and had an amazing view. Our bed was comfortable and there were two shades to allow for you to make the room as dark as you’d like. There are 3 elevators which all run extremely fast. The bar has great drink and service. We ate at the restaurant as well, which had an amazing cheeseburger and biscuits. We will definitely stay here next time we are in the area. The location is perfect, you’re close to everything but not on top of everything. There are some great bars and restaurants within walking distance.
