The LINE Austin rises from the north shore of Lady Bird Lake, a concrete and glass tower set into the landscape where downtown gives way to water and green space. The building itself is a statement of modern Austin, designed with floor-to-ceiling windows that pull the lake, the skyline, and the sprawling tree canopy into every sightline. From the moment you step inside, the hotel's interiors feel intentionally raw and warm, balancing industrial textures with local art and a sense of creative energy that mirrors the city just beyond its doors.
The 428 guest rooms carry that same design-forward clarity, with clean lines, natural light, and views that shift between the downtown skyline and the water below. Suites expand the footprint with generous living areas, and throughout the property, the aesthetic remains confident without excess. The lobby and ground-floor spaces function as a kind of living room for the neighborhood, drawing hotel guests and locals into the same orbit. This is a hotel that doesn't hold itself apart from Austin but invites the city in.
Dining and drinking are central to the experience here. Arlo Grey, the lakeside restaurant helmed by Top Chef winner Kristen Kish, brings a refined but approachable sensibility to Italian-American cooking, with a terrace that looks out directly over the water. The hotel's other food and beverage outlets, including a lobby bar and poolside offerings, round out a property where you rarely need to leave to eat well. The rooftop pool, perched above the lake with panoramic views, is one of Austin's more compelling places to spend an afternoon. Live music programming, pop-up events, and collaborations with local creatives keep the hotel's public spaces feeling active and culturally engaged in a way that feels native to the city.
Location matters here. The LINE sits along the south edge of the Rainey Street district and within easy reach of both the East Side's creative corridor and the live music venues of downtown. Lady Bird Lake's hike-and-bike trail passes directly below, connecting the property to miles of waterside paths. Austin's energy is restless and particular, and the hotel positions you at the center of it without ever needing to chase it.
What stays with you about The LINE Austin is the way it collapses the distance between a hotel and its city. There is no velvet rope, no cultivated remove. Instead, there is light on the lake, the low hum of a restaurant terrace at dusk, and the feeling of a place built not for visitors passing through but for a city always becoming itself.

What we love about this stay
There's a particular kind of hotel that doesn't just sit in a city but actually absorbs it, and that's what's happening here. The mid-century bones feel deliberate rather than decorative, a framework for Austin's art and texture to fill in the gaps. You notice it in the lobby, where the design choices read less like a mood board and more like a point of view — bold art, rich materials, an atmosphere that borrows from the city without trying to replicate it. The rooftop pool operates as a genuine social space after dark, which feels right for a property this connected to Austin's restless energy. It's a place for people who want to be inside the city's rhythm, not observing it from a remove.

The LINE is one of my favorite Austin hotels to date. I have gone to ACL every year for the last 10 or 11 years (except Covid which ones of course). It’s a convent walk to Zilker and downtown, fabulous service and great accommodations.

The Line is a little dated but has the charm of a boutique hotel. The staff was amazing and communicated very well. The location was the best it could be for walkability for downtown and nightlife, right on the river for recreation and you can see the bats leave the bridge from the hotel.

Great service from the front desk to the pool bartenders. There is some wear and tear in the rooms from time, but it’s not impactful to the quality of the room. What I loved was it always felt cool- almost cold- when you walked into the room. Great location to restaurants and bars. Pool was fantastic- looks smaller, but truly plenty of room!
