What we love about this stay
Request a garden-facing room on the second floor — the terrace puts you just above the canopy line, and the morning light through the palms is genuinely beautiful. Dinner at the on-site restaurant is worth at least one evening; ask for a courtyard table and don't rush it. The kitchen leans into local seafood with real finesse, not the tourist-trap version you'll find on Duval. Speaking of which, you're close enough to walk the strip but far enough to forget it exists. That balance is rare in Key West. Evenings wind down best at the lounge with something gin-forward before retreating to your room — the ceiling fan, the quiet, the faint salt air through the window. It's a small hotel that rewards slow stays over packed itineraries.

We'd read so much about "Key West Florida" in our travel section of The Star....we had to visit! Once on the 2 lane the highway from Miami, past Homestead, through Key Largo we really got our eyes opened...the sunshine & sparking waters made us think we were in The Carrabiean....of cource we stopped/ rubber-necked everywhere, as if we'd never return....but we did, we bought a condo at a marina resort in Marathon Fla.(50 mi marker) & the next 20 yrs are history. Every year though, we couldn't wait to see the sights in 'Key West'...not being fishermen, we'd take our bikes, sunglasses, sunscreen, bathing suits, cameras & extra clothes...A KW newstand was one of the few places in Florida to buy a Globe (the past Sat's Globe & Mail was in & it had Canadian news)...we'd stay for the day, plus it was only 45 mi's from our condo ...I ran the type of business that allowed me 3 or more months down South, plus wearing the national uniform consisting of 'shorts, tees, thongs, caps or a bathing suit.. allowed freedom & minimal packing. The beaches, people watching, unique gallaries, stores, museums & shopping are second to none....wear your walkiing shoes, park your vehicle (you'll discover a lot more)...over the years we tried various eateries , bar-hopped, visited historic graveyards, island mfgr. shops, toured residential areas, sat in the shade, ate ice-cream & watch the tourists etc....a late day visit to Mallory Square is a must...if your're only there for a day or so 'take a tour of KW'. Sun-down on the pier, at the foot of Duval St. is a 'special time of the day', don't miss it & get there early. When you arrive in KW, take a left & you'll see where the low-budget folks live..continue around & you'll find the main beach & it's characters...then you're in town. On the way out, the tourist traps, the local haunts, the naval base, marinas & boats, hundreds of hotel rooms & sun-burned tourists. Driving back you can pick-up gifts, eat at local seafood joints....perhaps spot a 'Key Deer'...but an impotatant note, "reserve your hotel room in advance"...otherwise you'll be sleeping in your car or driving back to Miami...enjoy the trip of a lifetime! A word of warning....if you despise crowds..."AVOID THE CRUISE BOAT VISITS"....KW is mobbed & you'll go away promising never to return!

Excellent customer service! Friendly and down to earth. Left packages in storage compartment and Key West Wheels went out of their way to ship items back to my house. Would definitely use again.
