The façade gives little away at first. A modernist building on Passeig de Gràcia, Barcelona's most celebrated avenue, where Gaudí's masterworks and century-old mansions line the wide, tree-shaded promenades. Step through the entrance of The One Barcelona GL and the city's restless energy gives way to something more contained: a design-led hotel of 89 rooms that carries itself with a confidence that feels earned rather than performed. The interiors are contemporary and warm, balancing clean lines with rich textures and a muted palette that lets the natural light do the work. Floor-to-ceiling windows in many rooms frame views of the boulevard below or the city stretching toward the sea, and the architecture feels purposeful throughout, as if every material and proportion was chosen with the guest's sense of ease in mind.
Accommodations range from superior rooms to suites, each designed with an emphasis on comfort and understated sophistication. Marble bathrooms, premium bedding, and thoughtful technology integrate seamlessly into spaces that feel residential rather than formulaic. The hotel's Gran Lujo designation, Spain's highest official hotel classification, speaks to a standard of service and amenity that extends well beyond the rooms themselves. A rooftop terrace and plunge pool offer a rare vantage point above Passeig de Gràcia, where the mosaic rooftops and ornamental chimneys of the Eixample district reveal themselves in a way the street level never allows. It is one of those spaces that feels private even in the middle of one of Europe's busiest cities.
Dining at The One centers on Somni, the hotel's restaurant, where Mediterranean cuisine draws on Catalonia's extraordinary larder of coastal and mountain ingredients. The menu is seasonal and deliberate, supported by a wine program that leans into local varietals alongside broader European selections. A cocktail bar adjacent to the lobby serves as a natural gathering point, its atmosphere shifting from afternoon coffee to evening aperitifs with an easy, unhurried rhythm. For guests seeking restoration, the spa and wellness area provides treatments rooted in relaxation and recovery, with a fitness space designed for those who prefer to maintain their routines while traveling.
The location itself is difficult to overstate. Passeig de Gràcia places you within steps of Casa Batlló and La Pedrera, two of Antoni Gaudí's most iconic creations, and at the center of Barcelona's finest shopping, dining, and cultural institutions. The Gothic Quarter, the waterfront, and the galleries of El Born are all within easy reach, yet the hotel's position in the Eixample means you return each evening to wide sidewalks, elegant street lamps, and a neighborhood that breathes a little more slowly than the old city. The One Barcelona GL understands this rhythm. It does not compete with Barcelona's intensity but instead offers a quiet counterpoint, a place where the city's creative energy is felt but never overwhelming.

What we love about this stay
There's a particular kind of confidence to a hotel that sits this close to Gaudí's most celebrated work and still holds your attention indoors. The One Barcelona GL doesn't compete with the city — it absorbs it, letting the sweep of Passeig de Gràcia and the curves of La Pedrera and Casa Batlló become extensions of the room rather than distractions from it. The design leans contemporary but warm, all soft textures against clean lines, the kind of space that feels considered without being precious. What lingers is the bar at evening — a genuinely multilingual, cosmopolitan room where the crowd shifts easily between languages, and the atmosphere carries that rare quality of being social without performing. It's a hotel for the traveler who wants Barcelona's energy close but not constant, and who appreciates that the best city hotels know when to be quiet.

Beautiful, modern, quiet, pristine hotel right in the center of Barcelona, close to shopping, dining, and beautiful architecture. The team members at the hotel are top notch. Our room was immaculate and well maintained. Breakfast was delicious as well as the sparkling, ice-cold Cava at night!
