The building announces itself long before you step inside. ME Barcelona occupies a striking structure designed by Dominique Perrault, its angular glass facade catching light off the Mediterranean and reflecting the energy of the surrounding waterfront district. The architecture is deliberate and unapologetic, a geometric presence along the city's coastline that signals something distinct from the historic stone and ironwork of the Gothic Quarter just minutes away. Inside, the design leans into contrast: clean lines, dark tones, and expansive windows that pull the sea and skyline into nearly every sightline.
The rooms and suites carry that same conviction forward. Floor-to-ceiling glass frames panoramic views of the city or the water, and interiors are minimal but considered, with a palette that lets the light and landscape do most of the work. Higher-category suites open onto private terraces, and many accommodations are oriented to make the Mediterranean feel immediate, almost touchable. The effect is less traditional luxury hotel and more urban residence with an uncommon vantage point. The Level premium experience offers an elevated tier of service and access, with dedicated amenities and personalized attention for guests seeking something more tailored.
The rooftop is where ME Barcelona most fully comes alive. The Roof terrace sits at the top of the building, delivering sweeping views across Barcelona's skyline, the coastline, and the mountains beyond. It functions as a social anchor for the hotel, drawing both guests and locals for cocktails, music, and the kind of sunset ritual that feels earned rather than staged. Below, dining options move between Mediterranean-inflected cuisine and more casual fare, with spaces designed to shift in mood from daylight to evening. The hotel's food and beverage program favors clean, vibrant flavors that echo the coastal setting without forcing the theme.
Barcelona's energy is just outside the door. The hotel sits near the waterfront, within reach of the beaches, the Port Olímpic marina, and the creative neighborhoods that define the city's restless cultural identity. The Barceloneta district, with its seafood restaurants and narrow lanes, is close at hand, while the broader city, from the Eixample to the Born, is easily accessible. ME Barcelona occupies a part of the city that feels modern and forward-looking, distinct from the tourist corridors but deeply connected to the rhythm of Barcelona as a living, working, evolving place.
What stays with you is the sense of perspective, both literal and atmospheric. ME Barcelona does not try to recreate the warmth of a countryside retreat or the intimacy of a boutique hideaway. It is something else entirely: a design-forward urban hotel where the architecture, the rooftop, and the city itself become the experience. You leave with the skyline still in your mind, the sound of the terrace still faintly present, and the feeling that you saw Barcelona from an angle most visitors never find.

What we love about this stay
There's a particular kind of calm that comes from a space that doesn't try too hard — clean lines, cool surfaces, an apartment that feels like someone with good taste actually lives here rather than decorated it for a brochure. The Sants neighborhood location keeps you honest about Barcelona; you're in the working rhythm of the city, not its tourist costume, yet Montjuïc and its sweeping views are practically at your doorstep. The minimalist design has a quiet confidence that mirrors Barcelona's own modernist sensibility without imitating it. It suits the traveler who wants a real foothold in the city — somewhere to make espresso, leave the windows open, and let the Mediterranean air do the rest.

Well appointed apartment in convenient location. I like how spacious the space was and how it was situated very close to the subway to get more into the tourist area and it was walking distance to the main train station for day trips.
