There is a particular quality to the light on the Promenade des Anglais, the way it moves across pale façades and settles on the water in long, unhurried strokes. Albert 1er Hotel sits just steps from this iconic seafront, its classic Niçois architecture holding a quiet confidence among the palms and the blue. The hotel occupies a position that places you at the intersection of the city's most celebrated landmarks and its most personal rhythms, a starting point for the kind of days that unfold slowly and end somewhere beautiful.
The property offers a range of thoughtfully appointed rooms and suites, many with balconies that open toward the Mediterranean or over the rooftops of the old city. Interiors are bright and warmly composed, drawing on a palette that echoes the Côte d'Azur itself: soft whites, coastal blues, natural textures. The effect is one of comfort rather than spectacle, a place designed for rest after long afternoons exploring the Cours Saleya flower market or the narrow lanes of Vieux Nice. Families, couples, and solo travelers will find accommodations scaled to different needs, from compact rooms suited to a weekend away to more generous suites with space to settle in. Breakfast is served each morning in an inviting ground-floor setting, offering a curated spread that leans into the region's love of fresh fruit, pastries, and strong coffee.
Location is perhaps Albert 1er's most defining asset. The Jardin Albert 1er, the city's oldest public garden, is just outside, its green canopy a natural threshold between the hotel and the sea. Place Masséna, with its bold public art and fountain, is moments away, as is the Promenade du Paillon, a landscaped park that threads through the heart of the city. The hotel's proximity to the beach means mornings can begin with the sound of waves and the sight of parasols being arranged along the pebbled shore. In the other direction, the galleries of the Musée d'Art Moderne and the baroque grandeur of the Cathédrale Sainte-Réparate are well within walking distance. Nice's tram network is also close at hand, connecting the old town to the port and the hilltop neighborhoods beyond.
What stays with you after a visit to Albert 1er is the sense of proportion. This is not a hotel that overwhelms or overperforms. It meets you where you are, offering a well-placed, well-kept base in a city that rewards those who walk slowly, eat well, and let the coastline set the pace. The Riviera, after all, was never about rushing anywhere. It was about arriving and finding no reason to leave.

What we love about this stay
There's something quietly satisfying about a hotel that doesn't try to compete with the city outside its doors but instead lets you feel it more deeply. The Albert 1er sits close enough to the Promenade des Anglais and Place Masséna that Nice's energy is always within reach, yet the Belle Époque facade signals a different register—unhurried, composed, rooted in the architectural language of the city itself. Inside, 72 rooms keep things focused: comfortable, air-conditioned, without unnecessary spectacle. It's the kind of place that rewards travelers who'd rather spend their hours in the old town's hidden alleys than in a hotel lobby, and the 24-hour concierge understands that impulse well. What stays with you is less any single detail and more the rhythm the hotel encourages—a base that feels personal, a door that opens onto the Riviera without ceremony.

The reception staff were very helpful. The breakfast staff also very helpful and are a credit to the hotel for maki h guest feel welcome in the morning and helped with any issue. The cleaning staff always cleaned the room to a high standard and if I needed any extra towels it was never too much trouble. The links to transport and for walking are excellent also.

The property is located in a very convenient area. 30 meter from the sea and 100 meters from the busy restaurant area. Great atmosphere, very clean room.

We really enjoyed our stay at Albert 1’er Hotel. It was clean and very modern. It’s also right in Old Town Nice which has all the shops and cafes as well as only being 2 block from the beach. We reserved a room which a beach view that was spectacular. It is on a bit of a busy road so you will get some traffic noise. We would highly recommend it and would stay here again.

This hotel offers an excellent location, just steps away from the beach as well as a variety of shops and restaurants. The property is full of charm, and the staff were exceptionally accommodating throughout our stay. Highly recommended for both comfort and convenience.

The newly refurbished room was very well decorated. Air conditioning was very effective in the room. Filter water stations on every floor were very convenient. The only thing they need to sort out is getting the in room TV connected to the internet, as a foreign traveller the TV is pointless without having the internet as without it you only have the French terrestrial channels. If you will rely on a lift to go up and down the building you will be frustrated, there is one lift for the whole hotel and even once you’ve waited a good amount of time for it the inside of the lift is very hot.
