The Loden Hotel sits just steps from Coal Harbour's seawall, a slender boutique property that trades the convention-hotel scale of downtown Vancouver for something far more personal. The lobby is intimate and warmly lit, with contemporary design that favors clean lines and natural materials. From the moment you step inside, the feeling is one of a residential hideaway that happens to occupy one of the city's most coveted waterfront addresses. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the guest rooms frame views of the North Shore mountains and the harbor's marina, pulling the landscape indoors in a way that makes the city feel both immediate and beautifully distant.
The 77 rooms and suites are designed with a residential sensibility, outfitted with European linens, deep soaking tubs, and kitchenettes that lend themselves to longer stays or simply a quieter way of traveling. Suites expand generously, offering separate living areas and balconies where morning coffee comes with mountain panoramas. The aesthetic throughout is modern without austerity, warm wood tones and textured fabrics softening the contemporary architecture. Thoughtful details, from complimentary bicycle lending to a curated minibar, reinforce the sense that every element has been considered with the individual guest in mind rather than a broader brand mandate.
On the ground floor, Tableau Bar Bistro anchors the hotel's food and beverage experience with a menu rooted in Pacific Northwest ingredients. The space is both neighborhood gathering place and hotel restaurant, drawing locals and guests alike to a dining room that feels relaxed and design-forward. Seasonal cocktails and a well-edited wine list make it an easy place to settle into for the evening, especially when the patio is open and the harbor air drifts in. For wellness, the Loden offers a fitness studio and partnerships with local practitioners, keeping the approach to health grounded and personal rather than resort-scale.
The location is quietly strategic. Stanley Park's thousand acres of forest and seawall trails begin just a short walk north. Robson Street's shopping corridor runs parallel a few blocks south. The convention center, Canada Place, and the Vancouver waterfront are all within easy reach on foot, yet the Loden's position on Melville Street keeps it set apart from the density of Burrard or Georgia Street. It is a hotel that rewards those who prefer to explore Vancouver at a walking pace, returning each evening to a space that feels genuinely their own.
What stays with you after the Loden is the proportion of the experience. Nothing oversized, nothing performative. Just a carefully maintained boutique hotel where the rooms are generous, the service is unhurried, and the city unfolds right outside the door.

What we love about this stay
There's a particular quality to a 77-room hotel that sits in the middle of a major city yet somehow feels like it belongs to a quieter, more considered world. The Loden carries that energy—intimate enough that nothing feels anonymous, polished enough that the details register without announcing themselves. It's the kind of place where designer furnishings and fresh flowers aren't décor choices so much as evidence of a point of view. What sets it apart is proximity without compromise: Stanley Park and the seawall are moments away, yet stepping back inside feels like arriving somewhere entirely separate from Vancouver's pace. Grab one of their complimentary bikes and you understand the balance—this is a hotel that wants you out in the city but makes returning feel genuinely rewarding. It lingers not because of any single grand gesture, but because everything holds together with a quiet, unhurried confidence.

The service was truly outstanding. I used to work in the luxury hotel industry and have stayed in a lot of 5 star hotels but the team at the Loden really delivered. Even our airport cab driver commented on how impressive the staff were after our car was loaded by the hotel team. They really couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. The room was fantastic too - really well designed and very comfortable. We were upgraded to a room with sliding doors opening onto a rooftop terrace, which was a real treat. The bed in particular was a dream - even better than my bed at home which is a rarity when staying at hotels.

The hotel staff was always available for last minute requests or questions. We got in at 11 pm and everything was ready for us. The room was comfortable and quiet and the hotel was in a perfect spot. An elevator was always available with added security to use it.
