From the moment you cross the threshold, SO/ Paris announces itself as something altogether different from the classic Parisian palace. The building rises at the edge of the Seine, its bold contemporary interiors conceived as a collaboration between architecture, fashion, and art. Kenzo Takada's design vision permeates the hotel, wrapping public spaces and guest rooms in vivid pattern and color that feel less like decoration and more like inhabiting a couturier's imagination. The lobby sets the tone immediately: dramatic, playful, unapologetically stylish, with a sense of theater that carries through every floor.
The 96 rooms and suites balance that creative energy with comfort, offering views that sweep across the river toward Notre-Dame or over the rooftops of the 13th arrondissement. Interiors layer rich textures and unexpected palettes, each space designed to feel like a fashion-forward Parisian apartment rather than a standard hotel room. Higher categories open onto private terraces where the city's skyline becomes part of the décor. Throughout, floor-to-ceiling windows ensure that Paris itself remains a constant presence.
Dining at SO/ Paris orbits around Codage, the hotel's restaurant, where French culinary tradition meets a lighter, more modern sensibility. The rooftop bar is the hotel's social crown jewel, drawing both guests and locals to its terrace for panoramic views of the Seine, cocktails that shift with the seasons, and a atmosphere that sharpens as the sun drops behind the city. Below, the lobby lounge serves as a daytime gathering point for coffee, conversation, and people-watching that rivals any Left Bank café. The hotel's wellness offering includes a fitness space and spa treatments rooted in French skincare expertise, providing a counterpoint to the energy of the public areas.
SO/ Paris sits along the Left Bank of the Seine in a stretch of the city where contemporary Paris asserts itself alongside centuries of history. The Bibliothèque nationale de France is nearby, the Jardin des Plantes within reach, and the Latin Quarter's winding streets a short walk or cab ride away. This is not the Paris of postcard cliché but a neighborhood where the city's creative and intellectual currents still run close to the surface. The hotel channels that identity with conviction. What stays with you after SO/ Paris is not a single detail but a feeling of having been inside a place that refuses to separate style from substance, where every corridor and cocktail glass carries the same confident, couture-inflected point of view.

What we love about this stay
There's a particular energy here that feels distinctly Parisian but not at all traditional—art and fashion pulse through the corridors like a second heartbeat, with curated installations turning even a walk to your room into something worth slowing down for. SO/ Paris sits right on the Seine, and that proximity to the river gives the whole place a grounding calm that balances its more provocative, couture-inflected design sensibility. The 162 rooms lean into floor-to-ceiling glass, pulling the city's rooftops and landmarks into your private frame. Downstairs, Bonnie blurs the line between restaurant and nightlife with a fluidity that feels very now—dinner shifts into cocktails, cocktails into something more electric. It's a property that rewards those who appreciate when a hotel has a genuine point of view rather than simply a high thread count.

This is a very modern, clean hotel. The service was excellent and the staff was friendly. The bar and restaurant was very convenient and the food was delicious. We enjoyed the observation deck, where we watched the fireworks for Bastille Day.

SO Perfect! From the first moment to the last in a two night stay, the hotel was exceptional in every way. Attentive and super friendly staff. The bed was incredibly comfortable - we were able to check-in early and having just flown into CDG, getting to nap on a fluffy cloud let us recharge and saved our first day (which ended in a jazz bar at 2 am). Hotel itself, and the rooms, are very posh. Location - on a quiet street next to the river. It was the perfect place from which to explore Paris. Top floor views from restaurant are as in the photos - great breakfast (we did not try dinner but if we had to guess...). To go back to the staff, on check out we left out luggage to get our car rental before continuing our trip. A young man helped us with our bags, saw we got a car, and then asked if we wanted a couple of bottles of water for the road. When people are thoughtful and pay attention to details like this, it just makes you feel good. Worth every penny.
