Most hotels sit on the city. The Londoner disappears into it. Rising above and plunging below Leicester Square, this towering property claims sixteen storeys, with six of them carved beneath street level, creating a vertical world that feels less like a conventional hotel and more like a private district stacked in glass, stone, and theatrical ambition. The architecture is deliberate and contemporary, its interiors shaped by a layered design language that shifts mood floor by floor, moving from moody subterranean lounges to light-filled upper floors where floor-to-ceiling windows frame the rooftops of the West End.
The 350 guest rooms and suites occupy the upper floors, each designed with residential warmth and a palette that balances muted tones with moments of texture and color. Spaces feel composed rather than decorated, with custom furnishings, considered lighting, and a sense of calm that stands in deliberate contrast to the energy of the streets below. For guests seeking more room, the hotel's suites and penthouses extend that sensibility with deeper proportions and broader views across central London.
The Londoner's public spaces unfold across its many levels with a density that rewards exploration. Eight distinct concept spaces for eating and drinking give the hotel the character of a curated neighborhood. The Retreat, a relaxation and wellness floor, offers a swimming pool, treatment rooms, and a lounge designed for stillness. Below ground, the hotel reveals its more cinematic instincts: a screening room, a ballroom, and multiple event spaces occupy the lower levels, while bars and lounges create pockets of atmosphere that shift from afternoon ease to late-night energy. The hotel's food and beverage experiences span Japanese cuisine, modern British cooking, patisserie, and cocktail culture, each given its own identity and environment rather than blending into a single offering.
Location here is not incidental. Leicester Square places you at the precise intersection of London's theater district, Soho, Covent Garden, and Chinatown. The National Gallery, Piccadilly Circus, and the Thames are all within walking distance, and the hotel's position means the cultural life of the city is not something you travel to but something that surrounds you the moment you step outside. The Londoner treats its centrality not as a convenience but as a defining characteristic, building an experience that mirrors the layered energy of the neighborhood it occupies.
What stays with you is the verticality of it all. The sense that an entire world has been constructed in a single address, from the deepest underground spaces to the skyline views above. The Londoner is a hotel that doesn't ask you to leave London behind. It asks you to go deeper into it.

What we love about this stay
There's something quietly theatrical about a hotel that sits right on London's busiest stage yet manages to feel like its own self-contained world. The Londoner absorbs you the moment you cross the threshold — classic lines meeting sharp contemporary design in a way that doesn't try too hard to impress but does anyway. It's a place built for people who want the city close but not constant, where six distinct dining and drinking spaces mean you can shift moods without ever stepping outside. The Whisky Room, tucked away like a well-kept secret, feels particularly emblematic of the property's personality: layered, a little mysterious, rewarding for the curious. What lingers is the sense that this hotel doesn't just occupy Leicester Square — it offers a counterpoint to it, a pocket of composure that makes London feel both intimate and vast.

Wonderful Christmas Stay Staff were wonderful despite us staying over the very busy Christmas period, and were always accommodating and kind. The facilities, quality of accommodation, and overall comfort were of very high standards. Our suite was large with a wonderful and high-tech equipped bathroom. Beds were very comfortable and room was very clean. Breakfast was excellent and all you can eat from the menu. The location is unparalleled.
