Amazing home would use again

The road climbs and the world drops away. By the time you arrive at Mountain Home w/ Views, Hot Tub, Al Fresco Dining, the sense of elevation is already doing its work. This is a residential retreat built around the pleasures of mountain living at its most generous: panoramic views that stretch across layered ridgelines, open-air spaces designed for gathering, and a pace that slows to match the landscape. The home sits with quiet authority in its setting, oriented to make the most of its vantage point, every window and deck framing the kind of expansive scenery that makes conversation pause mid-sentence.
The interiors are warm and comfortable, designed with a mountain sensibility that favors natural materials and livable scale. Common spaces are open and inviting, the kind of rooms where groups naturally spread out or come together without effort. Large windows pull the surrounding landscape into every room, blurring the threshold between indoors and out. The layout encourages a rhythm of easy movement between the kitchen, living areas, and the outdoor spaces that define so much of the experience here.
Outside is where this home truly comes alive. The al fresco dining area is purpose-built for long, unhurried meals under open sky, a place where platters are passed and glasses are refilled as the light changes over the mountains. The hot tub offers its own kind of ritual, particularly rewarding after a day spent exploring or simply doing nothing at all. The surrounding decks and outdoor spaces provide multiple vantage points from which to take in the views, whether you are greeting the morning with coffee or watching the last color drain from the horizon at dusk.
This is a property that rewards presence. There is no lobby, no concierge desk, no programmed itinerary. Instead, the home itself becomes the experience: cooking together in a well-equipped kitchen, reading in a sunlit corner, soaking under stars, dining outside with the mountains as a backdrop. It is the kind of place where the days feel both full and unhurried, where the landscape does much of the work and the home simply makes sure you are positioned to receive it. You leave not with a list of things you did, but with the memory of how it felt to be exactly where you were.

There's a particular kind of ease that comes from a house set among pines that still lets you reach a good restaurant in minutes — Bend does this better than almost anywhere, and this property leans into that duality without overplaying either side. It feels like a place designed for groups who actually like spending time together: a kitchen that invites real cooking, a living room where sunlight and a gas fireplace compete for your attention depending on the season, and enough deck space that conversations can splinter and reconvene naturally. The hot tub under open sky after a day on the mountain or the river isn't a luxury here — it's the punctuation mark on whatever the day was. What lingers is the scale of it: big enough for fourteen people to breathe, intimate enough that it never feels like a rental.

Awesome, spacious house. We stayed here with a large group for a wedding. Perfect home base. Easy to get to town (10 mins). Helpful to have a car but Ubers are available too. Host is easy to correspond with.
