It is small but good. Nice lake with sidewalk around it. The disc golf is fun, the outdoor volleyball is well kept for Colorado. The pool is small but well kept. Same for the workout area.

The boulders come first. They rise from the desert floor in ancient, rounded formations, framing the property like a natural amphitheater sculpted over millennia. Prism sits among them, a residence designed to hold its own against the drama of the high desert landscape. The architecture is angular and modern, with large windows that pull the outside in, offering unobstructed views of rock and sky from nearly every room. Arriving here feels less like checking in and more like stepping into a landscape that has been waiting for you.
The outdoor spaces are where this property truly lives. A private pool and spa sit within the boulder-studded grounds, offering a place to float beneath wide desert skies or soak under the stars once the sun drops and the temperature shifts. The surrounding terrain doubles as a natural playground, with boulders that invite scrambling and exploring, creating an experience that feels both rugged and leisurely in equal measure. Outdoor seating areas extend the living space beyond the home's walls, and the interplay between built environment and open desert gives the property a sense of scale that most vacation rentals simply cannot offer.
Inside, the residence is thoughtfully appointed for groups and gatherings. The layout accommodates multiple guests with room to spread out, and communal spaces are designed for easy, unhurried time together. The kitchen is fully equipped for preparing meals at home, which suits the rhythm of desert living, where mornings are slow and evenings tend to linger around shared tables and open air. The interiors balance clean, contemporary lines with warmth, avoiding the sterile minimalism that can sometimes flatten desert homes into showpieces rather than places to actually live.
Joshua Tree's high desert setting provides the broader context. The national park is nearby, offering miles of hiking trails, surreal rock formations, and sunsets that shift through every shade of amber and violet. The small towns scattered along Twentynine Palms Highway have developed their own creative ecosystem over the years, with galleries, vintage shops, and restaurants that reflect the independent spirit of the community. But Prism's greatest asset may be the way it holds you on property. With the pool, the spa, the boulders, and the open sky, there is very little reason to leave unless you want to. The desert asks you to slow down, and this residence gives you a beautiful place to do exactly that.

What stays with you about Prism isn't the architecture or the pool or even the hot tub under that absurd canopy of stars—it's the quiet. The kind of quiet that has weight and texture, that settles into you somewhere between the winding drive up and your first look at those ancient boulders standing watch outside the windows. The design knows its place here, drawing desert tones inside without competing with the landscape, and the interiors feel less like decoration than like a conversation with the terrain. It's a property built for people who don't need to be entertained—who find the shifting light across rock and scrub genuinely compelling. Trails start from the doorstep, boulders hide little pockets of solitude, and the firepit at night feels earned rather than staged. You leave carrying something hard to name.

I’ve been coming here often over the past year or so and plan to continue. This is my favorite of the three city rec centers in Boulder! The layout is nice and the building itself is an architectural gem, next to excellent outdoor facilities and the beautiful Harlow Platts park. I only wish there were weekend hours.

I love the South Boulder Rec Center, but I keep hearing from the rec center staff that it doesn't have the same visitation as the other centers! So finally do a major upgrade and give us what North and East have. Then you will have more people using the center!! Come on! We have the community and it is time that you took care of South!!
