It was a great, the space was clean and comfortable. In a lovely location with great views.

The approach tells you everything. A winding road gives way to native desert landscape, massive boulders standing like ancient sentinels around the property, and then the house itself comes into view, low and warm against the terrain. Mandarin Escape is a residence that doesn't compete with its surroundings. It settles into them, offering panoramic views from nearly every room and an outdoor experience designed to blur the line between shelter and sky.
Inside, the home is spacious and considered, with an open living area that draws your eye immediately toward the windows and the layered desert views beyond. The kitchen is fully equipped for unhurried mornings and long evenings of cooking together, while the living spaces feel generous enough for a group yet intimate enough for two. Bedrooms are positioned for privacy and rest, each offering its own connection to the landscape outside. The interiors lean clean and comfortable, with warm tones and natural textures that echo the terrain just beyond the walls.
The outdoor spaces are where Mandarin Escape reveals its full character. A hot tub sits among the boulders, offering an almost surreal bathing experience surrounded by ancient rock formations and wide desert sky. It is the kind of setting that shifts entirely between daylight and evening, trading golden warmth for starlit stillness. Beyond the hot tub, the property's grounds invite exploration on foot, with boulder formations that feel both dramatic and deeply peaceful. The views stretch outward in every direction, uninterrupted and unhurried.
Days here follow no particular schedule. You might spend a morning with coffee on the patio, watching light move across the rocks, then spend the afternoon hiking nearby trails before returning to the hot tub as the sun drops low. Evenings settle in slowly, with home-cooked meals and the kind of quiet that only a landscape like this can offer. Mandarin Escape is a place where the desert does most of the work. The house simply makes sure you're comfortable enough to pay attention.

There's a playful defiance to this place — retro accessories and a Secret Jungle Cubby sitting alongside a rooftop deck that opens onto nothing but desert sky and silence. It doesn't take itself too seriously, which is precisely what makes it feel so considered. The interiors have personality without performing, each room styled with a kind of whimsical confidence that invites you to settle in rather than just admire. What lingers is the evening atmosphere: a record player spinning vinyl, a fire pit glowing against the dark, and the Milky Way doing what it does best when there's no light pollution to compete with. A guitar sits waiting for no one in particular. It's the kind of property that rewards stillness and a little creative impulse equally, designed for people who want the desert to feel close — not curated away.

The view, the place, the local area, they're all spectacular but the best thing about our stay was the host - great communication and instructions, incredibly friendly and responsive to all our queries within moments. If we'd had time I would have dropped into the office to thank them for all their assistance!<br/>the house is exactly like the pictures (well, without all the ladies), it even feels like how it looks. there was a massive thunderstorm while we were staying and it was incredible to watch it slowly move down the valley from that panoramic view. The weather was just right for the cowboy tubs in the day and the hot tub at night, which was maintained twice during our week long stay. If the Mandarin escape is available the next time we're in Yucca Valley/JY we will be staying again. on that, the location is great for heading down to the highway, you can be at the Copper Room or Tiny Pony in 5 minutes, JTNP in 15 and (our favourite) Pioneer Town in about the same too.

What a lovely home! My wife and I booked this home for a quick weekend getaway and it was perfect. The view during sunset was breathtaking. Every room is a different experience in the house. Our favorite spot was the deck. Perfect for stargazing. Would definitely come back.

Great place, it is really private even though it is not very spaced out from other houses. Quite up in the mountains. Only issue I had was the front door whistles when its really windy in the valley so just as a heads up.

Such a fun yet peaceful property. Highly recommend for a cosmic long weekend. The deck at night amongst the stars will set you straight. 6 stars if I could for the secret cave. 🫠😂
