Hotel Ulysses arrives less like a traditional hotel and more like a declaration of intent. Part of the ASH collection, the property draws its identity from the spirit of the eternal wanderer, channeling a sense of journey and return into every aspect of its design and guest experience. The name itself is a promise: this is a place built for those who travel not to escape but to arrive somewhere worth being.
The spaces within Hotel Ulysses are shaped by a design sensibility that favors character over convention. Rooms are composed with a careful eye, balancing tactile materials and considered furnishings with an atmosphere that feels genuinely lived-in rather than staged. There is warmth in the details, from the textures underfoot to the way light moves through the interiors across the course of a day. Common areas invite lingering, whether over a drink, a conversation, or the kind of unstructured afternoon that good hotels make possible. The property's food and beverage offerings reflect this same philosophy, grounding guests in flavor and place rather than spectacle. Dining here is unhurried, designed to feel like a natural extension of the stay rather than a separate event.
What distinguishes Hotel Ulysses within the ASH portfolio is its particular balance of personality and restraint. The property does not overwhelm with grandeur or overdesign. Instead, it earns attention through proportion, through the rightness of a room's composition, through a lobby that reads like someone's exceptionally well-traveled living room. Wellness and relaxation are woven into the experience with the same thoughtfulness, offering guests space to decompress without performance. The overall rhythm of the property encourages a slower pace, one where mornings stretch and evenings settle gently.
Hotel Ulysses is, at its core, a place that understands the difference between luxury and care. It does not announce itself loudly. It draws you in through atmosphere, through the quiet confidence of its spaces, and through the feeling that someone thought deeply about what it means to welcome a stranger and make them feel, even briefly, like they belong.

What we love about this stay
There's something about walking into a lobby that hums — not loudly, but just enough to signal you've crossed a threshold into something considered. Hotel Ulysses sits in the kind of Baltimore neighborhood where the city's layers are close at hand, from Poe's old haunts to The Walters Art Museum, and the hotel absorbs that energy rather than shutting it out. As a Design Hotels member, the aesthetic leans modern and deliberate, with clean lines in the rooms that let the cityscape beyond your window do the talking. The on-site restaurant feels genuinely tied to Baltimore's culinary identity, working with local ingredients in ways that go beyond obligation. And there's something satisfying about a hotel that folds nightlife into its own walls — the exclusive nightclub means the evening doesn't require a plan, just a willingness to stay curious about what the night becomes.

Staff was very friendly and accommodating to all requests. Outdoor sitting area for smoking available and their lobby bathroom was always clean. Food was alright but there are great alternatives in the area. Water pressure for the shower was great and the bed was comfortable, a very cozy vibe.

Lovely stay, as usual. The breakfast service is always a bit hit or miss, and this is something that could be improved. Front desk staff are incredible.

Excellent. Been three times, and I'll be back. Everything smells great. The staff is very helpful. You feel like you're in a movie, the details are all so well thought-out.
