There is a particular kind of confidence in a building that wears its values on its glass-and-steel facade. Hyatt at Olive 8 rises in the heart of downtown Seattle, a LEED Silver-certified tower that channels the city's progressive spirit into a polished, contemporary hotel experience. The architecture is clean and modern, all sharp lines and floor-to-ceiling windows that frame views of the evolving skyline and, on clear days, the distant silhouette of the Cascades. Step inside and the lobby greets you with warm tones, natural materials, and a sense of order that feels distinctly Pacific Northwest.
The 346 guest rooms and suites carry a restrained, residential character. Interiors are furnished in neutral palettes with pops of color, and each room features eco-friendly touches that reflect the property's commitment to sustainability without sacrificing comfort. Floor-to-ceiling windows remain the defining design element throughout, flooding the rooms with natural light and drawing the cityscape inward. Many rooms offer views stretching toward Puget Sound or the downtown corridor, and the higher floors provide a quiet remove from the energy of the streets below.
Urbanity, the property's signature restaurant, anchors the ground-floor experience with a menu rooted in the seasonal bounty of the Pacific Northwest. The dining room strikes a modern brasserie tone, and the bar program leans into craft cocktails and regional wines. For mornings, the in-house Starbucks provides a familiar Seattle ritual just steps from the lobby. The hotel's wellness offerings center on an indoor lap pool and a well-equipped fitness center, while the Elaia Spa draws on natural and organic treatments that align with the property's broader environmental ethos. The spa's treatment menu emphasizes restorative therapies designed to offset the pace of urban travel.
Location is one of the hotel's strongest assets. Situated on Olive Way between 8th and 9th Avenues, the property places you within walking distance of the Washington State Convention Center, Pike Place Market, and the retail corridor along Pine Street. The light rail connects you to Capitol Hill, the University of Washington, and Sea-Tac Airport with minimal effort. Seattle's cultural institutions, waterfront parks, and culinary neighborhoods all unfold within easy reach, making this a natural base for both business travelers and those exploring the city at a more leisurely pace.
What lingers about Hyatt at Olive 8 is not a single dramatic gesture but a steady accumulation of thoughtful choices. The eco-conscious framework, the clarity of the design, the reliable comfort of a well-run urban hotel. It is a property that mirrors Seattle itself: forward-looking, grounded, and quietly proud of what it stands for.

What we love about this stay
There's something quietly reassuring about a hotel that doesn't fight its city but folds into it — and this one does that with an understated environmental conscience that feels genuine rather than performative. The LEED-certified bones of the place show up in the design language: a palette drawn from the Pacific Northwest, calming without being sterile, grounded in the greens and grays just outside those wide windows. You're in the thick of Seattle here, Pike Place Market close enough to walk to on a whim, yet the interior mood stays remarkably still. The indoor pool, catching shifts in daylight, is the kind of quiet detail that separates a stay from a stopover. It's a property that suits the traveler who wants city energy without city noise following them to bed.

The hotel's location is excellent, the food at Tidal is excellent, and the hotel staff were incredibly kind and accommodating. The pool and sauna were nice. I would go back.

Overall, great hotel within the city of Seattle. The hotel was nice but pricey. We stayed the night before our cruise. The hotel offered a shuttle service to the cruise ship for a fee and we arranged it the day before our cruise when we arrived at the hotel. Overall, I am a bit miffed with Seattle - not the hotel. This was my second time leaving for a cruise from Seattle. This time I really felt that the city takes advantage of the cruise ship passengers. Uber from the airport and around town was exuberant. The hotel prices were all so inflated, we paid $500 for one night for this room. I looked at rates when cruises are not in town and they are a lot more affordable. This will be the last time I leave for a cruise out of Seattle. Overall, this was a nice, solid hotel for one night before our cruise. Was it worth $500/night - not really.

My family and I took a staycation for the weekend to see a college basketball game. The location is fantastic. There is so much to do within a short walking distance. We really lucked out with the sunny weather both days. The pool and hot tub are the reason why we chose this particular Hyatt. Both of my kids enjoyed the pool. The locker rooms also had a fantastic sauna and steam room. The showers in the locker room were also very spacious. Had I known this was the case, I'd have taken more showers in them as the shower in the room was dated and not ideal for someone who is over 6' tall. My kids are picky eaters, and they loved the pancakes at Tidal+ each morning as well. The valet team was on it and was kind enough to run down to my car and grab something I had forgotten after dropping it off the night before. My car was also ready faster than they had anticipated when we checked out.
