The approach feels different from the start. Set apart from the caldera's edge in the heart of Fira, Katikies Garden Santorini unfolds not as a cliffside spectacle but as something more intimate, more rooted. Whitewashed volumes nestle into terraced levels, softened by greenery, flowering courtyards, and the particular stillness that comes when a hotel chooses garden over grandeur. The architecture draws from traditional Cycladic forms, with curved walls, natural stone, and arched passageways that open onto shaded corners and quiet alcoves. Light moves through the property in slow, warm intervals, catching plaster edges and poolside water in equal measure.
The accommodations carry that same sensibility forward. Rooms and suites are designed with clean lines, neutral palettes, and carefully considered textures, balancing a pared-back elegance with genuine warmth. Many feature private terraces or balconies, and select suites offer private plunge pools or jacuzzis where you can settle into the afternoon without leaving your room. The interiors favor soft linens, organic materials, and understated furnishings that feel considered rather than curated for effect. Throughout, the scale remains personal. This is a property of roughly thirty-five rooms, which means corridors stay quiet and the pool terrace never feels crowded.
At the heart of the property, the swimming pool serves as a gathering point, framed by loungers and bordered by the garden that gives the hotel its name. Dining centers on the on-site restaurant, where Mediterranean and Greek flavors are presented with seasonal attention, and meals unfold on a terrace that invites lingering over wine as the sky shifts color. A bar complements the experience with cocktails and lighter fare, offering a natural place to end the evening. Wellness is woven into the stay through spa treatments that draw on local ingredients and holistic practices, available in intimate treatment rooms designed for quiet restoration.
Fira, as a base, places you at the cultural and commercial center of Santorini. The town's narrow pedestrian streets are steps away, lined with galleries, shops, and restaurants that range from casual tavernas to more refined settings. The Museum of Prehistoric Thera and the Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral are within easy walking distance, while the famous caldera footpath connects Fira to Firostefani and Imerovigli along the volcanic rim. Boat excursions to the volcanic islands, wine tastings at nearby estates, and day trips to Oia are all readily accessible. As a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, Katikies Garden Santorini carries a certain assurance of service and detail, but it wears that distinction without ceremony.
What stays with you is the sense of proportion. Not every luxury hotel in Santorini needs to compete for the most dramatic view or the most expansive infinity pool. Some properties earn their place by offering something subtler: a courtyard where the scent of jasmine meets the warmth of volcanic stone, a terrace where breakfast feels unhurried, a rhythm that asks nothing of you but your presence. Katikies Garden Santorini is that kind of place.

What we love about this stay
There's something quietly disarming about a property built inside an old monastery — the bones of the place carry a kind of stillness that no amount of interior design can manufacture. Katikies Garden leans into that inheritance rather than fighting it, threading contemporary comfort through archways and courtyards that still feel shaped by devotion and time. The palette stays faithful to the island — those familiar Aegean blues and whites — but the citrus-scented garden air mixing with the salt breeze gives it a sensory identity that's harder to replicate than any color scheme. Dining at Selene in a lantern-lit courtyard, where the menu genuinely roots itself in Santorinian tradition, feels like the kind of evening you remember in fragments: a local wine, the warmth of volcanic stone, the quiet.

This hotel was beautiful and located very conveniently in Fira. Location was easy to walk to the main area of Fira for shopping and dining. The staff was so nice and welcoming, and they even gave us a complimentary room upgrade. The complimentary breakfast in the morning was amazing and the rooms were very clean. The pool was relaxing and had incredible views. My husband and I were sad to only stay here one night. I would definitely stay here again.

An amazing stay, beautiful hotel and wonderful staff. We did feel as though the service was a little different as we were set to leave, compared to the start. Damian at the bar was amazing and made the stay memorable. The room could have had bottles of water and shower gel replenished, for what you are paying. Super helpful staff throughout, lovely location, lovely food. Most definitely recommend.

We cannot speak highly enough about this hotel and the incredible staff who run it. The staff genuinely treat each other like family, and this warmth extends to all the guests who stay with them. Nothing is too much trouble for the team—they are friendly, courteous, and truly make you feel at home. The hotel itself is outstanding. The pool offers an unbelievable view, and the rooms are some of the best we have ever stayed in. Shout out to Alex, the hotel manager—you are one of the kindest people we have ever met. The friendship you showed our family during our stay was truly remarkable. We would visit again just to catch up with you. This hotel and its team are simply amazing. Thank you again for having us. Regards, Harris, Zoe, and Ava
