The approach is vertical. A descent through Oia's narrow pathways delivers you to a series of whitewashed volumes carved into the caldera cliff, each one stepping closer to the sea below. Katikies Santorini occupies one of the most coveted positions on the island, perched at the northern tip where the volcanic rock face drops dramatically into deep blue water. The architecture does not compete with this setting. It surrenders to it. Cycladic forms, smooth and organic, appear to have grown from the cliff itself, their curved walls and arched doorways finished in the same brilliant white that defines the village above. Infinity pools cascade across multiple levels, their edges dissolving seamlessly into the Aegean horizon, creating the illusion that water and sky are a single unbroken surface.
Accommodations range from intimate rooms to expansive suites, many with private plunge pools and terraces oriented directly toward the caldera and the sea. Interiors are minimal and deliberate, favoring natural stone, soft linen, and a restrained palette of white and cream that amplifies the extraordinary light Santorini is known for. Some suites open onto private courtyards; others are built into the volcanic rock, their walls cool and tactile. The effect throughout is one of shelter and openness held in careful balance, where every window and threshold frames the water.
Dining here is integral to the experience. Mikrasia restaurant draws on the culinary traditions of Asia Minor, presenting refined Mediterranean dishes that incorporate regional ingredients and Eastern influences in an intimate caldera-facing setting. Seltz Champagne Bar offers a more social register, pairing Champagne and cocktails with the kind of sunset views that have made Oia one of the most photographed villages in the world. Breakfast arrives on your terrace or poolside, unhurried and generous. A spa offers treatments rooted in relaxation and well-being, with therapy rooms that look out over the water. The concierge can arrange private yacht excursions, helicopter transfers, and curated explorations of the island, from vineyard visits to volcanic hot springs, though many guests find little reason to leave the property at all.
Oia itself is a destination layered with character. Art galleries line the marble-paved caldera path, and the village's blue-domed churches have become icons of the Aegean. The famous sunset draws visitors from across the island each evening, but from the terraces of Katikies, the spectacle feels private, almost personal. What stays with you is the particular stillness of this place, the way the architecture channels wind and light, the way the caldera holds your gaze hour after hour. It is not simply a beautiful hotel on a beautiful island. It is the rare property where setting, design, and hospitality feel like the same gesture, repeated with quiet precision each day.

What we love about this stay
There's a particular quality to a property with only 34 rooms carved into a caldera cliff — it feels less like a hotel and more like a secret kept between the whitewashed walls and the Aegean below. Katikies leans into that intimacy without overcurating it. Each room carries its own personality, its own decorative language that nods to the island's ancient layers while staying firmly rooted in contemporary restraint. The infinity pool that appears to dissolve into the caldera isn't just scenery — it reframes your sense of scale in a way that lingers. And the presence of Botrini's, with its focus on local harvest reimagined through a refined lens, gives the evenings a quiet anchor. This is a place for people who want Santorini to feel earned, not performed.

Great hotel, fantastic staff. Sophia at front desk and Vasilli come to mind. But they were all great. Loved the jacuzzi tube in front of our room overlooking the caldera:) suite 6, more private than others:) best part they had an elevator to bypass a number of steps! Great location. Really a great stay. They couldn’t do enough for us!

Beyond 5 Star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If anyone is ever wondering, should they stay and they have the budget for this hotel, they should absolutely stay here and they should book multiple nights. We thought we could do it in one night and we were sad to learn that they didn’t have additional nights available as we wanted to stay longer. The service, the food, the location, and the accommodations are unmatched. Excellent BEYOND five star all the way.

Outstanding property with excellent staff and amazing food. We had the best time staying here. The views from the rooms and the pool/bar areas are simply stunning. Rooms are spacious and comfortable with an open outdoor spaces to soak in the beauty of Santorini and the Caldera. The included breakfast and the service was the best way to start your day. Can’t wait to come back here again soon!

There are so many options in Santorini but I can't imagine having chosen a better spot. We debated whether to stay in Oia or Fira, but we are so happy we stayed in Oia and especially at Katikies. The location, views, condition of the property, staff, etc were all as good as it could get. Highly, highly recommend.
