This place was amazing! Loved being able to walk to most places in 15 minutes! However if you are a light sleeper, the area is a little loud with cars, people, and trash trucks!

Stay Duvet
There is a particular kind of stillness that belongs to Charleston's historic residential streets, where mature trees form canopies over sidewalks and the architecture carries the unhurried weight of centuries. Rutledge Avenue Inn (Suite C) sits within this atmosphere, a private suite inside a classic Charleston property along one of the city's most storied corridors. The approach feels residential rather than commercial, a threshold into something quieter and more personal than a typical hotel stay.
Suite C offers a self-contained retreat within the larger inn, designed for guests who prefer independence and the rhythms of a home over the formality of a front desk. The space is furnished with comfort and simplicity in mind, balancing a sense of local character with the practical needs of a longer or more leisurely visit. Expect a clean, well-considered interior where natural light plays a central role, and where the proportions of the rooms allow for easy, unstructured days. The suite provides the essentials for both short getaways and extended stays, with a layout that encourages settling in rather than just passing through.
Rutledge Avenue itself runs through the upper peninsula of Charleston, placing guests within reach of the city's defining landmarks and neighborhoods. The avenue connects to the historic district, where centuries-old churches, walled gardens, and gallery-lined streets reward unhurried exploration on foot. Marion Square, the College of Charleston campus, and the network of restaurants and shops along King Street are all nearby, accessible without the need for a car. This part of Charleston rewards those who wander slowly, stopping for coffee on a shaded corner or tracing the ironwork along a garden gate.
What lingers after a stay at Rutledge Avenue Inn is not grandeur but intimacy. Suite C delivers something increasingly rare in Charleston's hospitality landscape: a private, well-located base that feels less like a booking and more like borrowing a friend's carefully kept apartment in one of the most beautiful cities in the American South. The mornings are quiet here, the pace entirely your own.

There's something quietly satisfying about a place that doesn't announce itself — you simply walk into a 1910s Charleston building and find that someone with real taste has thought through every detail without overdesigning the soul out of it. Suite C feels like a proper residence rather than a hotel room, which shifts the whole rhythm of your stay. The blend of Southern architectural character on the outside with a clean, contemporary interior creates a tension that actually works — it's neither a museum piece nor a generic renovation. You're steps from King Street's energy, but inside, the mood is unhurried and self-contained, with a full kitchen and living space that let you settle in rather than just pass through. It's the kind of stay that suits someone who wants Charleston's history close at hand but prefers their own space to come back to — and that balance of intimacy and independence is harder to find than it sounds.

Great location. Very comfortable bed. Location was close to great restaurants and any easy walk to the historic district. Also loved having a designated parking space. Would definitely rent again!

Very pleased with everything. Great location and very comfortable bed. What else can one ask for but what they expected or better? Will definitely stay again.

Nice amenities. I recommend removing some of the fake plants or at least dust them. Other that that great.

Fantastic luxury apartment centrally located with every amenity we had hoped for, including washer/dryer. Walked to dinner and all around town, streets are clean and safe. Our unit was at the rear of the building and had plenty of light while being very quiet. Hosts were quick to respond to our questions. We loved having a full kitchen for breakfast and snack making. Will book again when we return.
