Wonderful home. Clean, quiet and very spacious.

Powell by AvantStay sits just minutes from downtown Bend, a modern residential retreat built for groups who want proximity to Central Oregon's outdoor culture without sacrificing comfort at the end of the day. The house opens with clean contemporary lines and an airy, light-filled layout that feels immediately welcoming. Vaulted ceilings and large windows draw the high-desert landscape inward, framing views of ponderosa pines and the wide Oregon sky. This is not a hotel experience distilled into a rental. It is a fully equipped private home designed to bring people together in a setting that earns every bit of its geography.
The interior accommodates groups with generous sleeping arrangements spread across multiple bedrooms, each finished with quality linens and thoughtful touches that keep the space feeling polished rather than purely functional. Common areas anchor the experience. A spacious open-plan kitchen invites communal cooking, fitted with modern appliances and ample counter space for preparing meals together after a day on the trails or the river. The living area offers deep, comfortable seating arranged around a central gathering point, while a dining space seats the full group without anyone feeling exiled to a secondary table. Throughout, the design stays warm and grounded, favoring natural materials and a neutral palette that lets the surrounding landscape remain the dominant aesthetic.
Outdoors, the property extends the living space with a patio area suited for evening gatherings under the stars. A hot tub offers recovery after skiing Mt. Bachelor or mountain biking the area's renowned trail systems. The yard provides room to spread out, and the overall footprint of the home gives the sense of a private compound rather than a compact vacation rental. Every detail has been considered to support the kind of trip where logistics disappear and the days unfold naturally.
Bend's appeal is well established. The Deschutes River winds through town, craft breweries line the streets, and access to year-round outdoor recreation is essentially unmatched in the Pacific Northwest. Powell's location places all of it within a short drive. Downtown's restaurants, shops, and riverside parks sit roughly ten minutes away, while the Old Mill District and trailheads fan out in every direction. Mt. Bachelor's slopes are a manageable drive to the west, and Smith Rock's iconic climbing terrain lies to the north. The house serves as a natural base camp for all of it.
What stays with you after a stay at Powell is the rhythm it creates. Mornings begin slowly in a sun-filled kitchen. Afternoons scatter across the region's trails, rivers, and volcanic landscapes. Evenings reconvene around the dining table or under the open sky with the hot tub steaming against the cool mountain air. It is a home that understands how the best group trips actually work, and it gives you exactly the right architecture to let them happen.

There's a particular warmth here that comes from the interplay between Southwestern design sensibilities and the tall pines just outside — wood finishes and rustic textures that feel earned, not staged. Powell reads less like a rental and more like a house someone built with real intention, where the great room fireplace anchors everything and the wrap-around patio pulls the landscape inward. It's a property scaled for gathering, with enough balcony and yard space that a group never feels compressed, yet intimate enough that a quiet evening by the pool still feels personal. Ten minutes from downtown Bend means you're never far from the energy of a genuinely good small city, but the pine-surrounded setting creates a convincing sense of distance. This is a place for people who want to cook together in a serious kitchen, linger outside after dark, and let a long weekend actually feel long.

The house was very beautiful and fit our group of 10. The surrounding area was fun to explore. Downtown was only 15 min away for groceries or restaurants and bars. The host was very helpful and quick with responses to our questions and all of our needs.
